The Nursery

From the day we found out I was pregnant, my mind went into overdrive! Those of you who know me, know i'm a bit of an organised nut and planner, probably the reason that after those two pink lines appeared - his exact words were 'rock on!', and then he went to bed knowing his wife was about to burst with excitement and non-stop chitter chatter.

Does anyone else suffer from this case of showering your child with a whimsical start to life and yet all they want to do is stand up against the fridge door and continue to lick it until you lose your shit?

Soon after having our pregnancy confirmed by our GP, the Pinterest boards were created. 'Baby Gills Nursery', 'Baby Gills Playroom', 'Baby Led Weaning', 'Breastfeeding Help', 'Pregnancy Prep', 'How to smother your husbands face whilst he has a wonderful nights' sleep'.

We didn't find out the gender of our baby until the day she was born, so the nursery was decorated in neutrals. Living in Barnsley I thought it was apt to theme it in greys, greens and woodland animals. In our minds we were going to be sensible, decorate it with what is NEEDED, not purchase too many unnecessary items and keep it soft and calm in hope that the colours would help our baby relax. LOL!

9 months out of the womb and project princess Reyaana's nursery is complete.

- The calm colours have done fudge-all - (I think she has a serious case of FOMO)

- Her ceiling lamp from Next is a personal favourite

- When I was in 'zen pregnancy mode' I painted her a woodlands theme story book canvas - she had better like at least one of those books!

- A giant personalised toy storage bag which I thought was way too big is now overflowing with stuffed toys

- Her rug came all the way from Australia - because that's so very practical of me.........

- The tree bookshelf is from Jo Jo Mana Bebe which only holds mini books and small stuffed toys - but it looks good so we're not bothered are we?

*drum roll*..........

Her Monique Lhuillier Pottery Barn Canopy is just so whimsical, so many layers of tulle, soft sea foam green, 3d butterflies - oh it's so lush!

The only practical part of this nursery is the plastic casing on the sides of her cot - she would've chipped away at the wood with her 4 teeth by now if that wasn't there - there'd be a case of prison break at the Gill household (instead of my husband trying to escape when a new delivery of bows arrives).

Why do kids do that to you? from the moment they're born you want to shower them with anything and everything in hope of giving them the best start to life. The day she was born her rocking horse and bows were ordered to arrive the day we got home - forget about the post birth pain and breastfeeding struggles - she needs a rocking horse for her first Christmas!!

Until next time....
